Sleep apnea is a condition characterized by pauses in breathing when asleep, which can last for seconds to minutes at a time. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is the most common type of sleep apnea, and it occurs when the airway is partially or fully blocked. This can not only take a toll on your quality of sleep, but also increase your risk of health problems like daytime fatigue, high blood pressure, and type 2 diabetes.
